PBla

The bla promoter is a weak constitutive promoter used for the expression of the ampicillin resistance gene in Escherichia coli. This promoter was originally found in transposon Tn2660 upstream of the initiation codon of the structural beta-lactamase (bla) gene (Chen and Clowes, 1984). The sequence can also be used for the expression of other foreign genes in E. coli. The promoter carries the sequence ranging from -35 up to nucleotide in position -1 from transcription start site.
